ONLINE MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS

Medical Weight Loss with Tirzepatide and Semaglutide

At Auburn Direct Primary Care, we believe that the highest quality weight loss solutions should be available for everyone. But until now, the extraordinarily high cost of Mounjaro and Ozempic/Wegovy have prevented many people from taking advantage of these options. That’s why we have partnered with a national compounding pharmacy to provide Compounded Tirzepatide (same active ingredient as Mounjaro) and Semaglutide (same active ingredient as Ozempic/Wegovy) to our patients at a fraction of the cost of the name brand drugs!

How do these medicines work?

Semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy, works by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone, which is naturally produced in our bodies after a big meal. This hormone tells our brains that we are full and reduces hunger. It also slows down the emptying of the stomach, so we stay physically full for longer. These effects lead to decreased calorie intake, and therefore weight loss.

Tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro, works in a similar way, but instead of mimicking just GLP-1, it also mimics another hormone called GIP, making it even more effective for suppressing the hunger drive and keeping us feeling full and content.

What kind of results can be expected?

While there is never a guarantee that any medicine will work well for any particular individual, these are, without a doubt, the best weight loss medicines ever created. With Semaglutide, plus healthy diet and exercise, most of our patients lose an average of 4-10 pounds in the first month. With Tirzepatide, we typically see anywhere from 6-15 pounds of weight loss in the first month.

What’s the difference between compounded Tirzepatide/Semaglutide and name brand Mounjaro/Ozempic/Wegovy

While the active ingredients in the compounded formulations are the same as the name brand drugs, there are a few differences to note:

How do we know that the compounded medicines are what they say they are?

We have partnered with a large national compounding pharmacy, and our compounded Tirzepatide and Semaglutide have undergone extensive third-party testing to ensure quality and purity so we can be fully confident we are providing the highest quality product to our patients.

Are the drugs FDA approved?

First, we have to understand that Ozempic and Wegovy are the same medicine. Wegovy has been FDA approved for weight loss, and Ozempic has been approved for Type II Diabetes. Similarly, Mounjaro and Zepbound are the same. Mounjaro has also been approved for Type II Diabetes, and and Zepbound is approved for weight loss. Doctors have always used medications “off label”, meaning we use certain medications to treat conditions for which the FDA has not approved the drug. Compounded Semaglutide and Tirzepatide contain the same active ingredients as Ozempic/Wegovy and Mounjaro/Zepbound. Since no compounded medications are FDA approved, we use these compounds "off label".
